Poor human rights situation in Vietnam in the past year was the U.S. State Department officially submitted to Congress in the annual report on human rights around the world in 2011 on last May 24. Although all of us, the citizens of Vietnam are very clearly know and understand the reality of the human rights situation in Vietnam as well as many activities of the international community including the U.S. government and European Commission pressure in calling for the communist government of Vietnam to respect human rights in Vietnam as well as to stop harassment, repression, arrests and imprisonment of dissenting voices in the country and released the immediate and unconditional release of political prisoners, conscience prisoners are currently on the Hanoi government held a wrong and immoral as Father Nguyen Van Ly, Blogger Dieu Cay .. ..
In recent years, although the communist government of Vietnam has many acts of human rights abuses seriously and systematically. However, the U.S. State Department was not consistent recognized yet and always applied soft foreign policy for the Hanoi government. Instead of the punishment and economic sanctions, the U.S. State Department only does the nature of activities and recommendations and has prompted and also has the views and actions shortcomings and mistakes in bringing Vietnamese Nam from the CPC list, the countries with the human rights behavior and Religious serious, systematic and continuous nature. This is the cause that led Vietnam's communist government, despite public opinion, disregard of international law and continues to have serious behavioral suppression of human rights in Vietnam.
After many years this was the first time the U.S. State Department officially recognized poor record on human rights in Vietnam through the report submitted to Congress. We can hope that the rest of the Legislative and Executive Branch United States in Congress will pass the bill on Human Rights relating to the sanctions and embargo to pressure the force strong enough to Party leaders and the communist government of Vietnam to change their attitudes and stop suppression activities and violations of human rights in Vietnam. Along with the tremendous efforts of the international community, the process of democratization of the country depends very much on the struggle and efforts from the people themselves in our country as well as from the mobilize support from the Vietnamese community living all over the world.
