U.S. Congressman :  Not allow Vietnam in TTP if do not improve human rights

Rep. Loretta Sanchez confirmed the U.S. Congress does not want to expand trade with Hanoi until Vietnam state showing a willingness to respect human rights with concrete action .

One of the leading U.S. lawmakers to promote human rights for Vietnam made campaign for President Barack Obama not allow Hanoi in Agreement Trans-Pacific Partnership TPP until the government of Vietnam improve human rights.

Overall, the human rights records of Vietnam Hanoi still very bad ... is tightening the freedom of speech , freedom of information by promoting more Decrees as 72 internet management , decrees 174 which banning the criticism that they call ' against the government on social networks '
Rep. Loretta Sanchez confirmed the U.S. Congress does not want to expand trade with Hanoi and reduced tariffs for exports from Vietnam to the U.S. market under the terms of the TPP until the Vietnam government securities expressed willingness to respect human rights in specific actions .

In a recent interview with VOA , President of Group operating in the U.S. Congress on issues of Vietnam , stressed :

" Overall, the Vietnam 's human rights record remained very poor . Especially in recent years , the Hanoi government is tightening the freedom of speech , freedom of information , freedom of assembly and association of citizens by strengthening specific extra decrees 72 as the internet management ,  decree 174 which banning the criticism that they call ' against the government on social networks . "

Congresswoman Sanchez said she will continue to campaign for the U.S. government should not spend more favor or continued bring to Hanoi the opportunities better trade relations , but instead , be applied Vietnam forces authorities to clean up the notorious human rights violations .

Although acknowledging previous similar efforts failed when the Agreement on Trade -Vietnam adopted the United States and Vietnam to join the World Trade Organization WTO , but Ms. Sanchez said:

" With this TPP , I will certainly slow down the effort let Vietnam to join the TPP until we see some positive changes in the field of human rights of Hanoi . We want to see real change . We want to see the blogger jailed for expressing disagreement with State to be released . We want to see repression aimed at Catholics or the Unified Buddhist Vietnam must be ceased and vague laws on national security that Hanoi used to long -term imprisonment of dissidents which must be revised . "

Before U.S Secretary of State visited Vietnam from 14 to 17 this month , Rep. Sanchez along with Rep. Zoe Lofgren heads gather petition signatures of 47 MPs belonging to the bipartisan U.S. to send Secretary of State John Kerry , urging him to prioritize human rights issues in discussions with leaders of Vietnam .

I will definitely slow down the effort let Vietnam to join the TPP until we see some positive changes in the field of human rights of Hanoi ..
Speaking at the International Human Rights Day 10/12 before, Mrs. Sanchez has urged people to continue to echo the voice of democracy in Vietnam , forced it to cease repression of human rights and release prisoners of conscience .

Kerry's foreign minister said during a meeting with the leaders of Hanoi 's last tour , he stressed Vietnam should continue to demonstrate progress on human rights, if not , the members of the U.S. Congress are likely to oppose the expansion of trade with Vietnam including Hanoi to participate in TPP and the implementation of the civil nuclear agreement Vietnamese - American to reach.

Vietnam did not respond directly to this call . Instead, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh repeat this long perspective of Hanoi that the two countries are still disagreements in the field of human rights.

Just yesterday 18/12 , Senator Ben Cardin influential , chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on East Asian issues -Pacific , calling on President Obama for frank and open dialogue than with Congress to get the backing of the U.S. legislature to TPP negotiating with 11 other countries .

The parties did not complete a deal before the end of this year as expected but will restart negotiations in early January .

The U.S. senator also suggested Washington used the opportunity to make economic conditions that promote human rights and improve labor standards for TPP partner countries such as Vietnam
