Vietnam in the list of most repressive internet freedom in the world

Vietnam is one of two national oppression most internet freedom in Asia and No. 7 in the list of 10 countries with the worst internet freedom in the world.

According to  the survey of 2013 Internet Freedom by Freedom House organization based in the United States announced today, Vietnam is ranked in the country is absolutely no freedom of the Internet .

In Asia , Vietnam is second only to China about internet censorship , repression and arrests of netizens . The report by Freedom House said in addition to the expansion of net censorship , the government of Vietnam has adopted various measures to manage and orient public opinion on the network .

In the past five years, according to survey results , Vietnam relentless arrests , interrogations , imprisonment , attacking bloggers or online journalists , and the trend is more heavy-handed repression escalated .

Ms. Madeline Earp , analyst research on internet freedom in Asia Freedom House , told VOA Vietnamese language :


" The situation of internet freedom in Vietnam is very worrying . First, the number of bloggers arrested annual increase . Second, the Administration Decree 72 issued internet proves state are constantly looking for ways to continue tightening control over the internet . Third, Vietnam state admitted employing a powerful force of public opinion on the network staff in an effort to manipulate the content and direction of the exchange of information on the net . Vietnam is not only ranked second among Asian countries biggest internet crackdown ranked by Freedom House , which is ranked second among the most imprisoned blogger on the list ranked by organizations to protect implementation of human rights . Just behind the country 's population giants like China in this field is indeed internet freedom status of Vietnam is interesting . "

Internet freedom situation in Vietnam is very worrying . First, the number of bloggers arrested annual increase . ​Mrs. Earp said the most attention for analysts to perform this survey is the number of net users in Vietnam by government harassment or detention ..

Survey on Internet Freedom of Freedom House is done in 60 countries around the world .

The scope of the assessment included barriers impede net users , the form of limited access such content censorship , blocking , and other forms of violation of network users , including infringement personal privacy , monitoring , attack , harass or arrest. In all these areas , Vietnam has a very low score .

Compared with a similar survey of Freedom House last year , Vietnam 's ranking in the 2013 Internet Freedom tables were slipping .

Professionals of this organization Freedom House said that in the future worry , trend internet repression in Vietnam will be worse when the official Decree 72 is executed, the police of Vietnam has been included to facilitate clamp internet freedom and citizens' arrests more netizens express their opinions contrary to state or government critics .

However, according to Ms. Madeline Earp , a positive sign that the community netizens Vietnam proved to resist efforts to obstruct and state censorship , especially against Decree 72 .

Noting that effort , Freedom House calls for international support net users in Vietnam , increasing pressure on Hanoi to promote respect for the fundamental human rights of citizens , including freedom of speech and internet freedom .

" We hope the international community to pay more attention to the situation in Vietnam bloggers imprisoned for long sentences because they express personal views on life, exercising freedom of speech , internet freedom . Let us not forget these people . "


According to a survey by Reporters Without Borders , in 2013 , Vietnam has replaced Iran became the second largest prison in the world imprisoned netizens , after China .

In the first half of this year there were 35 bloggers imprisoned in Vietnam for up to 13 year sentence .
