The trial of four young Catholic Nghe An province, Vinh diocese has faced fierce opposition from the International Human Rights Organizations and many other mass organizations at home and abroad. (Bangkok, May 23, 2012) - Today, the Organization for Human Rights Watch said the government of Vietnam to immediately release four Catholic activists accused of propaganda against the state, and cancel all charges against them. People's Court of Nghe An province is expected to open the trial of four people on 24 May 2012.
Four people - Dau Van Duong, Tran Huu Duc Manh Chu Son and Hoang Phong - the Catholic community Vinh, Nghe An province. They have been arrested by government on the grounds that are believed to spread pro-democracy leaflets.
"It was extremely embarrassed when the government of Vietnam took the Catholic activists and the court may be sentenced to jail for expressing their views and flyers," said Phil Robertson, deputy director in charge Asian Organization of Human Rights Watch said. "Through the prosecution of the said four activists, the government of Vietnam is that they disregard of religious freedom and free speech."
In the past, four activists have participated in volunteer work, such as advocacy of abortion women, blood donors, and volunteers to help orphans and victims of natural disasters. Authorities arrested Dau Van Duong, 24, is a student of Tourism Vocational College - Commercial Nghe An and his cousin Tran Huu Duc, 24, student of engineering college in Vietnam - Germany, Art An on 2nd day of August 2011. The next day, authorities arrested Chu Manh Son further, 23, a student of the Medical University of Vinh. Hoang Phong, 25, a former student who graduated the University of Technical Vinh, was arrested on December 29.
Vietnam government often use Article 88 of the Criminal Code, "propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam," to arbitrarily imprison bloggers, critics and advocacy. Article 88 of the legal regulations 3 to 20 years in prison for behavior such as "propaganda," "circulation of materials, cultural products," or "psychological warfare" against the government.
In 2011, the Vietnam courts have applied this law to condemn at least 10 bloggers and compaigners because they have expressed their views, including legal activist Cù Huy Hà Vũ , bloggers Vi Đức Hồi, Lu Bay, Hồ Thị Bích Khương Nguyen Ba Dang and many others.
March 2012, the People's Court sentenced the two provinces of Nghe An other Catholic activists, is Vo Thi Thu Thuy and Nguyen Van Thanh, also under Article 88. State media reported that two people are related to Father Nguyễn Văn Lý, and allegedly distributed leaflets against the government.Vo Thi Thu Thuy was sentenced to five years in prison and Nguyen Van Thanh was three years in prison.
Three well-known blogger Nguyen Van Hai (pen name Dieu Cay), Phan Thanh Hai (AnhBaSG) and Ta Phong Tan, also be prosecuted under Article 88. The three fouding members are Club Free Journalists, launched in September 2007 with the policy of promoting independent journalism and free speech.
At least 12 bloggers and other active Catholics, including the blogger known as Tạ Phong Tần and Lê Văn Sơn, also are in custody pending investigation or trial. Many of those arrested said related to Thai Ha Church in Hanoi and Ky Dong Cathedral States in Ho Chi Minh City. In recent years, both churches regularly hold meetings to pray for the safety of the activists detained. In last May 20, the Thai Ha Church held a prayer service for four activists will be punished on next 24 May.
"Article 88 has the same effect as law sawing machine, designed to cut down those who speak up to question or criticize the government," Robertson said. "Vietnam's leaders need to cancel this draconian law and listen to the people, instead of silence and imprison them just because they think different."

            As news of the international media and domestic, on next 24-05-2012, the Catholic students, members of the Diocese of Vinh and members of the Communications Team (The) Christ is Anthony Van Duong Beans , Peter Tran Huu Duc, Anthony Chu Manh Son (arrested from May 8-2011) and Jean Baptiste Hoang Phong (arrested from May 12-2011) will be pulled up to Communist court in Nghe An province, on charges of alleged "propaganda against the state" under Article 88 of the Criminal Law Communism, and faced with the sentence from 3 to 15 years.


            Before the event, with numerous individual unions of Catholics or non-Catholic, domestic and overseas, has been in communion with the defendants by prayer, speaking, advocacy, group support ... Father Nguyen Kim Dien us:


            1 - condemn the police arrested the suspects a mysterious way, type of kidnap, even deprived of property and not notify family members, completely at variance with the provisions of the Law on Organization Criminal Procedure (Articles 80, 84, 85), of the Constitution (Article 71) and of the International Declaration on Civil and Political Rights (Article 9).


            2 - condemn the police and procuracy, in the process of detention, the accused has not been linked to a lawyer (Article 59 of the Law TTHS) and with family (D. 89 TTHS Law). Given the country a situation worsening, especially rampant corruption in the leadership of Vietnam's communist government led to the violation of human rights has become increasingly serious people to bring poverty extreme poverty, homeless, no job, no assets, no freedom, democracy, no human rights and even sometimes even the right to life and personal safety is no longer. Only the  choice for the leaders of the party and government that is democratic path. A government, a regime of pluralism and multi-party with fair- elections will help to clean the machinery of government and change the current situation similar to what people in country as Burma, are doing and good achieved, encouraging results today.


The country of Vietnam, with the advantages available given by the Creator as people are intelligent, hardworking, about nature with the mild climate and abundant natural resources and is a lucky country for not being many natural disasters such as droughts, epidemics, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes .. v .. v ... compared to other countries in the world and the region, Vietnam is a country that to be incentive more by natural. On the other hand, was not affected, dependent, or have to suffer the painful consequences such as war or civil war ... But with the incentives that Nature has to offer plus the many tried and effort from the people, country and people of Vietnam are not only not escape poverty, suffering that left even worse than what we thought compared to other countries in the region and other countries the world.


Why? questions and answers for this is belong to the party and state leadership. SOME FINDINGS ON THE SITUATION PRESENT IN VIETNAM

The policy innovation has helped Vietnam integrate into the general flow of humanity and the country from a poor economy to one of the countries with the highest economic growth in Asia. Integration process is reflected through the Vietnam becomes member of ASEAN, APEC, WTO accession. Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with many countries involved in many international organizations and attract more investment by foreign corporations. Society is becoming more dynamic, creative and generally seem richer. But the situation has found that Vietnam economy is disorientation, lack of sustainability and human, because economic reform without political reform in parallel, as well as economic growth is not connected with the development social and integral human development.
Mailing post-2010 Congress of the People of God invites all members of the Catholic Church in Vietnam trying to identify and define "Vietnam Social status in the light of faith." It is in that perspective, the Committee on Justice and Peace Vietnam Episcopal Council wishes to express a few awake, thinking and perceptions about the country situation, just as citizens, just as Christians.

A. Vietnam economy
After nearly two decades achieved a high economic growth, Vietnam has left the group of low-income countries, but the situation in recent years shows that Vietnam's economy is revealed serious risk, work directly affect people's lives and the future of the country. Best show that weak economic management, the corporate state losses, bankrupt business as much profit as big banks, inflation, widen gap between rich and poor, quality of life majority of the population decline, many falling back into poverty before ... Does the current economic model is to enrich special interest groups rather than the entire people?
Oriented economy taken as the leading state created monopolies and abuse of power, distorting the operation needs of the market economy. State enterprises contribute less to economic growth but receive many special privileges, causing injustice and hampers the development of the private sector. By applying new technologies, health care in recent years Vietnam has made some achievements in health care and preventive medicine. Medical staff are increasingly educated and more highly specialized. Besides the severe overcrowding at the Central Hospital and the hospital charges increased substantially affecting the poor, opinion says much about apathy, harassment, lack of accountability and ethical quality of health workers ...
State calls "socialized" education and health, should create ideal conditions for the religions in the country are directly involved in these two areas.

9. The field of religion
In recent years, the government has created the perfect opportunity for religious activity, most religious institutions destroyed during the war have been restored, many new facilities have been built . However, legal provisions relating to religion are still inadequate and not meeting the aspirations of the faithful, particularly the specific legal status of religious organizations. According to information we just received the Father Phan Van Loi executive member Democratic bloc 8406 today 18 May 2012  was police of Vietnam harassment and threatening behavior at His own home in Thua Thien Hue. Especially rapid information and honest about the government mobilized large armed  forces including  police and troops to attack people, the coercive appropriation of land, assets of people violently and wrong as in Tien Lang Hai Phong, Van Giang, Hung Yen and Nam Dinh Vu Ban ....


While Vietnam's communist government tried to conceal the wrongdoing and unethical by their directives to the media and the press must remain silent, the Freedom Democratic newspapers more commonly known as the left side newspapers , including individual website, Blogs and media agencies overseas as radio RFA, VOA, BBC and in journals including the Semi-monthly Editorial Freedom of Speech that Father Phan Van Loi is in charge vehemently condemn and denounce all acts of human rights violations and oppression of people  unscrupulous of government in Hanoi in recent time. Perhaps this is the main reason leading to Vietnam's communist government resentment seeks to punish himself Father Loi led to the harassment and intimidation of police officials in Vietnam.
